Go Big 5 or Go Home 0

I would say Florida's "Big Five would be alligators, the Florida panther, manatees, dolphins, and opossums. While manatees are a big part of Florida, they are endangered and there is always a fear of them becoming extinct. Dolphins still make appearances to those out on the ocean, trying to steal someone's catch while they are fishing. Opossums are still becoming victims of the road and they don't seem to be letting up. But I feel another animal should now be added, the snake, snakes in general. Many are not even native to Florida, being brought from another country; they reproduce fast enough to be a large factor in the environment

Open Your Blinds, I Can't See Through Them!

http://www.campushealthandsafety.org/violence/stalking/

Stalking usually refers to someone who engages in a harassing or threatening behavior toward another person repeatedly, this may include nonconsensual communication or verbal, written or implied threats. The National Violence Against Woman or NVAW survey shows that 78% of stalking victims are women, and 22% are men. While 87% of the stalkers were identified as male. Some ways to prevent stalking is to enforce anti-stalking policies and programs on campus, also to increase perpetrators' accountability for stalking behaviors. There are also services being provided for victims of stalkers, which include counseling.
My opinion on stalking is that it seems to be happening way too often and looks like it will only be getting worse. With such easy access to the internet now, it has even become a virtual problem. People are able to hack into other people phones and computers in order to access pictures and other personal information. In order to achieve an atmosphere free of fear and intimidation, I think an increase in law enforcement around the campus, but not to many to feel like they are waiting for you to slip up and catch you for it.

Stranger Danger Has Sent You A Friend Request

http://www.nj.com/business/index.ssf/2011/08/facing_the_dangers_of_facebook.html

In the article "Facing the Dangers of Facebook, Head On" by Steve Adubato, he takes different situations that has occured because of Facebook and expand on it. Such as, a young ladies father has become so absorbed with Facebook that his personality on Facebook began to seep into his daily life. Another incident that happens far too often are people putting photos for people they don't even know to see and once it's out there, it is for the world to see.
I do agree 100% that people do put photos up that they shouldnt, that people can easily get absorbed in conversations with people they don't know and say stuff they won't have to regret the next day, and that there are evil people that lurk on facebook. Of course there are ways of protecting yourself. Although Facebook, and hackers, has access to all your information, there are ways of changing your settings so only people you know can see the information and photos. Many people add others to be friends even though they don't necessarily know the person, making themselves victums.

Looking Through The Glass

The mood of this advertisement is depressing and it does this by showing a girl crashing through the picture frame glass as if she was going through a car windshield. It is designed to show what could happen if you drink and drive.  There is not much balance in the picture, most of the "action" is located on the left side, but the frame is facing toward the right side. There is not a lot of space being used; only a portion is filled with a graphic.
I feel that this image holds a very powerful message. It is very simple, yet extremely complex; the visuals make it better than most drinking and driving ads that just show alcohol and a teen's face. What this advertisement could use to help it is some sort of text to catch the viewer, there's a sentence in the corner "Don't make it a grad to forget" in very small font that does not influence the ad at all.

The Scorn of a Women's Touch

Why Men Dont Talk To Women

The central message that the author is trying to communicate is that there are women in the world that think the only reason a man is talking to them is because they want to go on a date or have sex. But at the end of the video, it shows that the easiest way for a man to get a girl is by having money to spend on her. I agree with the author on the viewpoint that most men don't want to have to go through that conversation with a woman. But of course not all women are like that, also not all women only go out with guys just because of the money they are making, although I'm guessing it would be nice

Honor the Brave, Remember the Fallen

Both posters have to do with veterans day. Poster one has large light letters that are easy to read while in front of the darker edges of the background.  It also shows sunlight shining through the American flag with a hint of gold. There are also stars following in a few different lines going into the sun. Poster two has a lot more writing thats smaller and harder to read. But the black and white ad with a single footprint in the mud leaves a lasting impression, literally and symbolically. When you see this track, obviously already made in the past, it triggers a response of rememberance. This rememberence is exactly what Veteran's day is all about, remembering those soldiers who fought for us. This being said, the advertisement is very effective. The ad in color with a flag and light shining behind it focuses on an image of "holiness". Any time you see a bright light it is said to be an angellic sight, and in this case it shows the holy act of what our soldiers did for us. It reveals that we want to honor all the soldiers did for us, and remember in full exaltation. This ad is also very effective in the goals and meaning of Veteran's Day. Though this is an effective ad, the black and white ad is much more effective. In triggering an innate response of feeling, it is automatically an attention-grabber. Using pathos is a great way to draw in the audience's attention and that is exactly what the footprint ad does.

Not Your Average Animation

http://goanimate.com/movie/0bUsqOlOQVrc?utm_source=linkshare&uid=05j2ZnKf1OjQ
For my midterm reflection I used the GoAnimate technology tool. I used this tool because it seemed like it could be enjoyable to use and that when you mess with cartoons or animations such as this one, you are always able to make it unique. While I was trying to figure out what to put in the dialog boxes, I noticed that you are only able to have 10 lines of dialog, which was not enough for all the information that could have been extracted. But there were many other things you could do with the people. You could change the background, although only a few were selectable, change what your person looked like, how they talked, their emotions, and if i saw this right, the language they spoke in. If I was to revise this assignment i would probably try a different technology tool. But dealing with the GoAnimate, I would probably try to fit more information into the dialog boxes, since theres a max number of character aloud per box.

YouTube's Finest

(Philip Defranco)

(Mike Diva)

YouTube has become the “go-to” place for all music, news, recaps, education, and just general entertainment.  Hundreds of millions of people go to YouTube every day just to watch their favorite music videos or to explore the vast possibilities that lie within YouTube.  There are two “YouTubers” I feel have changed the way viewers watch videos, Philip Defranco and Mike Diva.  YouTube is like the ocean and the videos are like the fish, there are always some being added, fish being born, or some taken away, fish dying.
Philip Defranco, otherwise known as Sxephil on YouTube, is best known for his “PDS” or Philip Defranco Show.  On this show he talks about what matters to him on the news for the day.  He mixes in funny pictures and paraphrases to help his viewers better understand what is happening in the world, such as describing his views on the Occupy Wall Street.  Mike Diva, on the other hand, uses special effects and music to “WOW” his audience.  His “How to Dance to Dubstep” video is a parody of his crew doing some unrealistic dances, such as the “The Poorly Constructed Robot” where he does the robot and begins to lose his arms and lastly his head.  “The Transformer”, where he folds his arms and head into his body and then morphs into a dog or “The Brain Freeze”, he holds his head and begins to shake like an a building during an earthquake, and then his head explodes.
Philip Defranco has many different shows other than his “PDS”; “Stuff Phil Likes”, “LTA”, and a vloggity, or video blog.  “Stuff Phil Likes” is a playlist where every other video he introduces another video found on YouTube.  One of his recent picks was of a man named Ueli Steck that solo climbed a mountain.  He is also known for selling shirts and posters; his logo that he puts on the shirts is a monkey smiling and wearing glasses.  Mike Diva is more of a creative prankster.  His most popular video is called “Sexy Sax Man Careless Whisper Prank” in it he videos his friend Sergio Flores go to various locations across Los Angeles, such as different stores, food establishments, and plazas.  Sergio plays the song “Careless Whisper” by George Michael on the saxophone while in shopping carts, and on desks and tables.
Philip Defranco has now become successful enough in his YouTube career to have meet-ups with his thousands of fans throughout Europe.  He also hires interns, has become sponsored by Netflix, and give stuff away every day; Video game consoles, gift cards, and other expensive items.  Mike Diva has done videos where he collaborates with other YouTubers using music and special effects that will blow your mind, just like how “The Brain Freeze” does.

Prepare for Manhood!

Axe body wash is for the man that never stops having a good time.  The scent stays with you throughout your adventure into the night.  As long as you shower with Axe, you'll never miss a beat when you’re having a good time.  Like a zombie coming to life, it revives you, to keep you coming back for more.
Although you might role-play as a horse, you will definitely not smell like one.  Remember that pool party where you drank to your heart’s content and you passed out, and people were drawing on you with a permanent marker?  No?  Well don't worry about it Axe has a fix for that.  Lather up and get ready to head out for more, because you are bound to find a good time smelling like a God.
Gillette is for the man that takes his work with him wherever he goes.  Most body washes say they're for men, but can’t tackle the odors like Gillette does.  Gillette attacks and defends from a man's odor, while others are only good for child's play.
You might think that you've taken control of your stench, but if you’re not using Gillette body wash, you only just woken a sleeping giant.  When you think you’re hunky-dory, presenting your PowerPoint to the boss and the smell of defeat creeps up on you like a lion stalking its prey.  You should have thought twice before you overlooked Gillette in the Men's isle.  Now all that’s left is for you to take everyone holding their breath as you walk by and to run faster than an Olympian in the 4x4 to your nearest Wal-Mart.

Cite or Smite?

Plagiarism Blur for Students In Digital Age
This article is about students that are copying and pasting from websites and don't realize that it's a very serious offense.  Since the internet provides so much information for a student to access, this could be influencing how students look at the authorship of a text or image. Donald L. McCabe took a survey over 4 years and found that in a group of 14,000 students, 40 percent admitted to taking a few sentences and puting them in their assignments. The percentage of those who think that plagiarism is "cheating" is declining, from 34 percent down to 29 percent.  "You’re not coming up with new ideas if you’re grabbing and mixing and matching," said Ms. Wilensky.
I think the article is spot on when it talks about how plagiarism is tainting our creativeness. Although I am saying that I agree with the article, I have also engaged in plagiarism.  Throughout the beginning my highschool career, papers just didn't interest me. So I did what any normal high schooler would do. I went to the internet for help. It's easy when all the words are there. You only have to click the mouse a bit and press a few buttons.

Turtle's Haven

As the piercing sun beats down onto the soft, endless sand, seagulls begin to fly overhead in search of a quick meal from the beach goers.  The smooth glass ocean shatters as the waves hit the shore with a crashing swoosh.  With no one in sight, the private beach seems to be completely deserted, except for a select few.  We ride our boogey boards with the waves until we come to a sudden halt as we hit the sand.  The night slowly creeps into the sky, allowing other sea creatures to come ashore.  It becomes as dark outside as the inside of your eyelids.  Sea turtles make their way upshore everynight to lay their eggs in the soft, cool sand.  In the morning we dodge deep holes, making sure we don't step in one and end a life that has yet to begin.

OH YEAH!

It's the ability to rip and tear the foil off of a Hershey's kiss, like a small child opening presents on a Christmas morning.  The wrinkled foil that encases the Kisses works as a protective shell.  The white paper reaches out of the top, allowing you to quickly unveil the beauty in silver.  While being held up to the sun the shiny coating is a reflective work of art, but make sure not to leave this masterpiece out for too long, it could become a deliteful mess.  The aroma of this delicate piece of heaven and earth will force you to believe that you have already engaged in the act of digesting it.  But do not be decieved by the essence, for it is no match for the real thing.  Hot liquid magma that descends from atop a volcanoe could not compare to the texture of this creamy delite.  This flat-bottomed teardrop shape will only bring out joy when consumed.  Your taste buds will be screaming "Oh yeah" like the Kool-Aid guy as you eat one, but one wont satisfy.
